2 min read
Vision exercises are used by doctors or therapists to treat patients who have vision problems. A patient is considered to have a vision problem when he/she can not see clearly. The eyesight exercises are very unique and vary depending on the patient’s age and other existing vision problems.
Who should take the exercises? A doctor says the exercises are intended at helping patients who:
- Can not focus their eyes when reading;
- Have one eye that drifts too outward or inward;
- Have taken eye-surgery and need to control their eyesight;
- Have crossed eyes;
- Have amblyopia;
- Have double vision.
Vision exercises are recommended for people with vision problems such as eyestrain, blurred vision, headaches, increased eyesight sensitivity to bright light, tired eyes, or heavy eyelids.
The patients or people with the above symptoms should take the exercises. Below are a few examples of exercises which can be used to improve eyesight.
1. Sitting in front of Window
This exercise is very simple. Just try to sit comfortably in front of a window. Find a sticker, or a piece of black tape. Focus on the sticker for about twenty seconds, then look out the window for twenty seconds. Keep alternating between those two.
2. Blinking More Often
Try to blink your eyes, every three to four seconds. You can do this while you are sitting, relaxing or listening to your favorite music.
3. Using a Ball
Write down a few numbers and letters that are different sizes on a soccer ball, kickball and softball. Hang them from the ceiling on a string and give them a knock in any direction you want. When it swings, say the numbers and letters you see loudly. This is a simple technique that you can do at home.
4. Using your Thumb
Hold up your thumbs in front of you about an arm’s length away and move them in circles, X’s and crosses. You can use in and out motions as well. Your eyes have to follow the motion of your thumb and you should not move your head. Do this exercise several times a day.
In conclusion, if you do all above vision exercises regularly, your vision will be much better. If you have a will, there is always a way.
